I teared it down and was amazed that the mechanical construction and the components inside it would NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, withstand the labeled 2.5kV and you're lucky if you're playing with high voltages using this. I'd rate them for 500Vrms maximum and even then it's risky because it can develop a short-circuit internalyl.
